Gaining Perspective
What is perspective and how do we gain it? Perspective is a specific point of view in understanding or judging things and events, especially one that shows them in their true nature or relationship to each other. It’s the ability to see things as they truly are. As we grow in knowledge and in the truth of the Word, looking back in reflection, or forward into the future -having climbed the mountain of wisdom we can view and review our life from the vantage point that comes from the illumination of truth.
A wise man once said it like this: that ‘our position will always determine our disposition.’ What is our position?
The Word of God tells us that in Christ ‘we are seated in Heavenly Places,’ that the ‘Kingdom of God is within us,’ that as we became born again, and through the knowledge of God, we gain an heavenly altitude that changes our ability to view everything. As the platitude so truly states: ‘our altitude determines our attitude.’
A Heavenly Perspective gives us a Godly lens where we can truly see the bigger picture and truly adjust our course and direction and life according to the new truths we stand on and new peaks of knowledge we ascend to.
Believing in the Word is simply an ascent of the mind, a conformity to the Truth found in the Holy Scriptures that result in a daily renewing of the mind and transforming that takes place as we gain perspective reached by gaining the knowledge of the truth.
As we grow in God and our position changes we find that we obtain an ability to begin to judge things and to understand everything for what it truly is and not what someone or something else determines that it is from their point of view- or from those whose intent it is to deceive.
In this Information Age of Disinformation, the constant stream of content and information is soaked in agenda, camouflaged by those who seek to proliferate ideology and little if any is true especially when viewed through the lens of the Word of God. If we have this hope of the Word of Truth as an ‘anchor of our soul, sure and steadfast,’ then our ability to see a counterfeit truth is greatly advanced.
It is our duty as Americans and Parents and Christians to guard with all diligence the information that comes into our lives and the lives of those we love and are responsible for. The greatest lie ever told is one that most closely resembles the truth. Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda said it this way: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” This is why holding to what is truth is of the utmost importance today.
Hebrews 6:17-19 tells us where we find truth. “17Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast and which entereth into that within the veil.”
Everything changes when we change our perspective. When our source for truth is found in the Word of God- we will not be confused or deceived by the noise of the world or the state or the state run ever present, ever streaming agenda and propaganda, pushing distortions and outright lies, whose mixture includes facts and fear designed to paralyze and destroy faith and hope- by making the hope and the source to be the government and making their information the only truth you can trust. When our Faith is found only in what we can see, of what is right in front of us- we become more easily manipulated.
Thus, it is out of necessity that we must climb the mountain of truth, the immutable truth found only in the Word of God, in order to gain a different perspective of everything that is occurring all around us, while maintaining an anchor to an immutable and unchanging God, without variation “ in whom is no darkness found, neither shadow of turning. It is this connection to the constant that is God, and from this plane, from these heights, that the cares and deceitfulness of the world cannot distract, suffocate, nor paralyze through fear.
The attacks against the church are not by accident- remember the “truth is the greatest enemy of the state” thus by extension the ‘church is the greatest enemy of the state’ - that is to say, the church that preaches the truth.
God help us to gain perspective and view everything thing from the height and through lens of Your Word and filtered through Your Truth, and to review our lives through the same knowledge and see Your Presence and Hand as we remember. Help us to know that through this ‘understanding we can be of an excellent spirit,’ because our disposition is changed by our heavenly position, that we can not let the worries and cares of the world pull us from the mountaintop of truth where you intend for us to dwell.
Help us to see things as you see them, with the advantage of a Heavenly View and by faith conform to your Truth, and not this world’s version of it in Jesus name, Amen.
